A couple of techcnical updates for GW
Hi, not sure if I should post this here or in the technical forum, but as its a suggestion, i'll put it here.
I have 2 guggestions that shouldnt be too difficult to implement to improve graphics on high end PC's, not that theres anything wrong with them currently, but rather that running at 60+ FPS with everything maxed out on an 18 month old PC is getting a little boring:
1) Firstly I suggest support for higher modes of Anti-Aliasing for video cards that can support it. I have tried forcing 6x through my drivers, but the in game setting always over-rides the driver settings.
2) Secondly, I would suggest an ultra high texture setting that renders armour on nearby people at the same full quality as the armour on your character.
This wouldn't affect people that currently run the game on lower settings, it just adds some extra options for higher end PC's.
This will probably never be implemented, but it would be nice.

/signed, I would love this. It doesn't affect people with lower end PC's but benefits people who have powerful PC's like myself

I'd personally prefer smaller updates before they get to stuff like this - like controllable transparency for your maps/mission window/party window etc. I don't see this happening.

???
The updates you suggested are a lot bigger then the ones I did. Enabling higher AA support doesnt really require anything but allowing graphics cards to over ride the in game options or adding the selection in the game itself, Buffing textures on other characters is the same thing as applying the same texture levels your character has on max to other characters on the screen
These would be very very small changes indeed.

Transparency is already there in the windows. Take a look at your party window - the black border in the party window/chat window is already transparent to a degree. It's just not adjustable outside of the chat window when you hide it. Changing the compass and mission map might require a bit more work as well as adding a slider bar to adjust transparency in the options menu but if it's already in place, I'd like to be able to adjust it. Maybe "smaller updates" was poorly worded and instead I should have said "more utilitarian updates" (at least in my opinion.)

yea i agree i think there should be more interface updates so that players can tailor the game to look how they want it and i dont think they would be taht hard to do.

I see why not, having a game that has a wide array of graphical options and capabilities will, I think, gather a larger audience.

Just a thought, but I might be wrong here...the reason for low textures of armour in towns is for the internet bandwidth and not for graphics cards.
If they implemented high armour graphics to all the people in towns it would be lag central to all but the most speedy of connection.
If Im wrong then:

video process = you computer
playing process = your computer
changes in environment = internet
i can play gw on dial up *and i do* because the only thing over the web is changes so really the bandwidth that gw takes is less then watching videos on the web lol

The textures for armours are stored in the data on your hard drive and drawn from there. At least im certain they are.
